Poe Final Paper - during semester testing blocks
2nd - Friday; 8:15 - 9:50
3rd - Friday; 10:00 - 11:30
5th - Friday; 12:20 - 1:50
6th - Monday; 12:20 - 1:50
After watching The Raven in class, work as a table group to freely write how historically accurate the movie was. Think about the pieces you know from Poe's life already and how/if those were mentioned in the movie. Think about scenes in the movie and research if they are accurate or not.
When researching, be careful not to use a summary of the movie as truth. Of course that will say everything in the movie is accurate. Look at Poe's biographies. Research more of his background information. Give solid examples of truth and falsities.
Write at least 150 words. No need for a formal introduction and conclusion, but make sure you are still writing intellectually.

Art Pieces from Romanticism
Frederic Church, Niagara (1857)
George Inness, The Lackawanna Valley (1855)
Asher Durand, Kindred Spirits (1849)
Albert Bierstadt, Looking Down Yosemite Valley (1865)
Thomas Cole, Romantic Landscape with Ruined Tower (1832-1836)
Open all five paintings and choose one to examine. Interpret the piece of art - tell the story. Why do you believe it is a romantic painting? What visual aspects does the artist employ to interact with the viewer? How does he use the formal principals of art and design? What are the characteristics of a romantic work of art? List some visual aspects of romantic painting.
